ENGLISH FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN
English is not yet another language in our country. Its imperialistic values can’t be underestimated. People often confused English with good education. We should learn everything in our mother tongue. At the same time we should know English.
Because of unknown reasons our rural side students studying in public schools are not able to learn this imperial language in a well manner. This led to a wrong conclusion that the quality of education is poor in government schools. Net result- mushrooming of private schools. If we really want to strengthen our public school system we should teach our school students authentic English.
For practical purposes we finalized Cambridge ESOL Exams. We want to start from KET to FCE. These programs may be offered “off the school”. Because our government already initiated a variety of programs to improve English proficiency among our school children. Our activities can be supported with them. Ultimately quality of English will be improved.
This English language proficiency is like bait. If our students are able to communicate their ideas in this foreign language, middle class parents will enroll their kids in government schools. These people are able to raise their voices. This will led to a situation – in a democratic set up – where government should increase their investment in schools
